In the 1620s, the Puritans, a religious group who believed in religious and societal reforms, travelled to America by the Mayflower Compact in discontent with the Church of England. The Puritans' main differences with the Church of England was their belief that the Bible was God's true law, while the Church stated that access to God was only attained through the Church.
